Cleanings

The cornerstone of a healthy mouth is good oral hygiene. We recommend that everyone have their teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months, as research shows that this is the amount of time it takes the average person to build up tartar. Your cleaning appointment will usually begin with digital radiographs, which will give Dr. Price a good idea of what’s going on inside of the teeth. Then one of our two hygienists, Amy or Donna, will perform a thorough cleaning and remove anything that normal brushing and flossing won’t remove. After the teeth are polished, Dr. Price will come in and perform an exam and check for any conditions of the teeth or surrounding structures. Our cleanings are done thoroughly and carefully, ensuring the patient comfort along with the best possible results.

Fillings

When decay is found within a tooth, it is very important to remove the decayed tooth structure and stop the process from advancing too far within the tooth. Dr. Price then uses a variety of filling materials to replace the tooth structure that was removed. Different areas of the mouth call for different types of fillings, and Dr. Price will determine which material is best for the affected area of the mouth.

Crowns

Crowns, commonly referred to as caps, are tooth shaped coverings that are placed on teeth for a number of reasons. Crowns are commonly used to restore a tooth’s shape and size, restore the tooth’s strength, or to enhance a tooth’s appearance. Once crowns are cemented in place, they encase the entire visual portion of the tooth that lies at or above the gum line.

Crowns may be needed to:

  • Restore a broken or worn tooth
  • Protect a tooth after a root canal has been preformed
  • Improve the esthetics or a tooth
  • Support a bridge

Bridges

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. When replacing a missing tooth with a bridge, the teeth on either side of the missing tooth are prepared for crowns. The bridge is then fabricated as one unit that is supported by the natural teeth with crowns. A bridge is a great option to permanently replace missing teeth.

Dentures

Full or partial dentures are sometimes needed to replace multiple missing teeth. A denture is a removable prosthesis that may be supported by a patient’s remaining teeth, implants, or natural suction. Dentures are a more affordable option to replace multiple missing teeth.

Implants

Implants are used to replace missing teeth. Once an implant has been placed in the jaw and integrated, a crown can be placed on the implant to replace a lost, missing, or broken teeth. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or as support for a denture.

Whitening

Personalized whitening trays can be made to specifically fit your teeth and can be filled with prescription strength bleach for whitening purposes. We have varying strengths of bleach to fit each individual’s different whitening needs.

Root Canals

When the nerve within a tooth gets infected, it is sometimes necessary to remove the nerve. A root canal is a painless process that relieves the symptoms associated with an infected and painful tooth. Dr. Price does many root canals, but some cases may be referred to an Endodontist, who is a root canal specialist.

Gum Disease and Gingivitis

Gum disease, known amongst dentists as periodontal disease, is an infection of the tissue and bones that surround the tooth. Gum disease can affect the gums, also known as gingivitis, causing swelling, tenderness, and bleeding along the gum line. Without treatment, gingivitis spreads beneath the gum line to the deeper tissues that support the tooth.

Treatment includes a deep cleaning under local anesthesia to remove hardened plaque that is attached to the teeth around and under the gum line. Rough spots along the tooth root may be smoothed to prevent bacteria from collecting and reproducing.
